Cadwell Park V1.0 - RACE07
Download
- Description:
-
Cadwell Park is a motor racing circuit in Lincolnshire, England, 5 miles (8 km) south of Louth.
It is sited across a steep-sided valley, giving rise to dips and crests. The circuit features sharp changes in gradient, including one section called The Mountain where bikes frequently become airborne.
Cadwell's mix of challenging corners has led to its nickname as the Mini-Nürburgring.
Located in the Lincolnshire Wolds, Cadwell Park was established in 1934 by Mr Mansfield Wilkinson of Louth. His sons originally used the land for racing their own motorbikes against each other and this evolved into the circuit which it is today.
In 1953 the track was lengthened to 1.3 miles (2.1 km), upon the invitation of the 500 cc motorcycle-engined Formula 3 to race in a traditional bike meeting. Around 30,000 spectators attended that particular race.
The original track grew to the current 2.25 miles (3.62 km) layout in 1962 and hosted the British F3 series the next May. Some of the bends are named after family members e.g. Mansfield, Charlie and Chris.
Cadwell is now considered too narrow for high level car races, although Club motorsport associations such as the BARC and 750MC still hold meetings. The layout is ideal for bikes however, with the Bennetts British Superbike Championship round being the most popular event on the circuit's calendar.
Several tests and feature clips for the motoring program Fifth Gear have been filmed here.
Cadwell Park is now owned and operated by Jonathan Palmer's Motorsport Vision company.

ORIGINAL GTL / GTR2 Readme.txt below...
----------------------------------------Cadwell Park for GTL
This is another in a series of great UK club circuits, converted by philrob and motorfx,
the first events were held in 1934 and club events are still held there today.
A narrow older style track layout make this one tricky to master,
throw in damp and leaves and it is a test of car control.
This track was originally created for GPL by Geoff Oliver and a superb job was made of it.We have updated this track from the 1965 version to a more current era. Much of the original has been modified including the inner grass areas, banking, buildings, spectators, vehicles, trees and a lot of the track itself has been changed in 3dmax, along with most of the textures to make it more suitable for latest simulations.
Some of the older buildings/objects have been left to hopefully retain some of the tracks old style charm. The infields have had much welding to repair the many holes and multi levels found in these areas, as have the trackside banks.
The pit area has now been moved from the original paddock area ( left in ) to the current start/finish straight, complete with the temporary tents used at current events.
The ai is new and has been tweaked for this GTL version , they should give a good account of themselves.
As in a visit to the real track, certain areas have to be treated with care as they often have fallen leaves and wet patches, so watch out near any trees, hehe!
we would like to thank GEOFF OLIVER for making this track possible,
The track is optimised for GTL and DX9.Runs great in DX7,or DX8 with reduced detail/effects.The maximum number of cars supported is: 19
this is an old style track and many more cars would cause problems on the narrow roadways.
regards
